It’s customary to make resolutions as we approach a new year but I always fail to do so. Probably because they’d end up being trival or forgettable and I’d look back in a year’s time and feel like a failure for ignoring them.
I looked around my room today and realised the inspiring messages around me would suit me far better as I move into 2012.
When its dark, look for stars
I know they’ll be times when things get tough, when I’m uncertain or insecure about what lies ahead but I know I will need to keep moving forward and counting my blessings. There should always be a positive to be found, some light at the end of the tunnel and I need to remind myself of that if I’m struggling. The stars are shinning for me, I just need to pay better attention to them.
Keep calm and carry on
I’m writer so I over-analyse things. I am hard on myself sometimes. I get stressed. I get demotivated. I need to keep an eye on my goals. I need to remember to breathe. I need to take a moment to be calm. And I need to keep track of where I’m going and not let anything stand in my way, especially myself.
Live, laugh, love
Sometimes it’s easy to forget the basics in life. Sometimes it’s easy to get side tracked. I need to focus on my dreams but also try to be happy in the moment. The the L’s are important to us all.
Dream with all your heart
I’ve always been a dreamer but I need to be a constructive one. I need to focus on my writing dream and trust and follow my heart to take me there. It won’t be easy but I’ll always regret it if I don’t keep trying to make my dream come true.
When it rains, look for rainbows
It’s a similar message to the one about stars but this one reminds me nto to forget or miss the magic in life becuase even though there are moments I can’t wait to forget, there are beautiful and happy times that should be grasped and locked in my heart forever.
Believe
This is probably the one I need to remember most in 2012. I need to live by it. I need to breathe it. I need believe in myself and follow my heart and my dreams. I won’t be able to forget this one either as it’s literally etched into my skin!
I hope you all have a happy New Year and 2012 is a wonderful one for us all!
If you have any more inspiring words for me to live by next year, please add to your comment

/ December 30, 2011I love your tattoo! That is a very inspirational word to remember and have imprinted for good measure. It really is beautiful.
I heard a saying the other day that really resonated.
Whatever you can do, Or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius! Power and magic in it.
Something about those words makes me want to conquer the world.
Happy New Year!

/ December 30, 2011“What ever your mind can believe, it can achieve”. & “If it is to be it is up to me.”
Ms. Vix savior your accomplishments and ignore the ‘nay-sayers’, they really don’t matter anyway do they? I think you have proven to yourself you can accomplish anything you want to once you set your mind to it, haven’t you? We think you rock! Rock on in 2012…
LittleMissVix
/ December 30, 2011Ah thanks! Rock on indeed

/ December 31, 2011Happy 2012 Vixster!
I haven’t been visiting as much on blogs lately or posting that often. Once September-December hits, I’m a crazy person with the kiddies. With Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and both kids bdays, and all the school performances and fundraisers…I can’t think straight!
So, just wanted to check in with you and say “HAPPY, HAPPY” and I look forward to reading more of your posts in Jan!

/ January 1, 2012Happy new year Vicky… It’s been a crazy year, hasn’t it?! I’m glad to have gotten to know you through your writing this last year… your words and writings have encouraged and cheered me often. I know I’ve been pretty invisible lately, but know that you (and Laura) are quite the awesome friends regardless of the miles. Very grateful. Wishing you the best in 2012

/ January 1, 2012I love the “When it’s dark, look for stars” one. I’m not much of a New Year’s resolutions person either. Making real changes in our thinking and lifestyle is better than checking goals off a to-do list.
LittleMissVix
/ January 2, 2012I agree. I hope we both make the changes we want this year!

/ January 2, 2012my thought cum resolution in 2012 is to stop dreaming and to start living!

/ January 2, 2012I’ve been keeping a “count my blessings” list and trying to remember to keep it updated, for those moments when I’m having trouble seeing the stars in all the darkness. It helps me continue believing in myself. And no matter what, Keep on Writing!
LittleMissVix
/ January 3, 2012That’s a really good idea. Keep believing and writing!

/ January 3, 2012Those are some amazing sayings! I may just steal some of them and put them up on my own wall ;] I especially love your tattoo! I’m planning on getting a tattoo in a couple of years, even though I’m beyond terrified of it haha. My mantra for the rest of my life is going to be ‘Carpe diem’ so I figured I might as well get a permanent reminder of it somewhere, it’s a saying that I’ve loved for a long, long time so it’s worth it! :]
LittleMissVix
/ January 3, 2012Hehe go for it
Ooh you should get a tattoo yay, that would be a good reminder to have for sure!
