Hope vs Doubt

Battling hope versus doubt
Facing ups then downs
Loneliness taps the shoulder of freedom
Passion locks itself on my heart

Drumming my fingers on the table
My heart hammers in my chest
Fighting with myself
Pressure to reach success

Self belief versus expecting failure
Pushing on up the hill
It’s a long climb to reach the stars
Feels like too obstacles in my way

Battling hope versus doubt
The world versus just me
Smiling, hoping tears won’t blind me
Waiting for the rainbow after the rain

Victoria

  1. Ah, Vicky. Another day when our minds seem to be linked across the ocean. Have you gotten my package yet? Or has the US Postal Service failed me yet again?

  3. I have never thought about how those two words are opposites. I could feel the push vs. pull all the way through and will work hard to thwart all of the doubts in my life!
    Very nice!

  4. Beautiful!!! Doubt is such a tough thing. It’s a downer, yet sometimes it pushes me to strive for more out of life/a situation. Write on, my friend.

  8. Beautiful poem. I can relate to it. Hope and self-doubt are in a constant tug-of-war with me.

In the end, I still have faith hope will prevail and we’ll catch that rainbow :)

  10. Lovely words, lovely courage. Keep trudging up the hill; show it who’s boss!

  11. Those are tough days. When it seems like the goal is impossible. But you can do it. Don’t look at the top of the hill, concentrate on each step your taking and you’ll eventually get there. :)

  12. I know this feeling all to well. We will get there in the end though, whether it be on the path we plan on following or on a different one all together, The sun will still rise in the morning xx
