A lot of books I read are part of series. YA especially is full of them. When I find a good one, I love a books series as you can really invest in the characters and have your own ideas on how things will pan out. I’m currently reading a few series and some are coming close to the end. I approach final books nervously – some you can tell who they will end and the pay off is good, others through a curve ball or don’t wrap things up well enough for you to feel fully satisfied. Regardless, I’m always impressed when an author creates a series as it’s hard work and if you get hooked and have to read everyone, it’s job well done for the writer.
These series are almost at an end for me
:
- The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
- The Fallen series by Lauren Kate
- The Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris
- The Wings series by Aprilynne Pike
- Paranormalcy series by Kiersten White
As a reader you invest a lot in a series and you want to get the ending you want. There’s a lot of pressure on writers but I’d love to have a series of books one day, it seems like lots of fun!
Probably the three most popular series ever:
How do you feel about book series?

/ June 8, 2012I do love a good series but I usually wait until at least two books are published before I begin. I just hate waiting. Hunger Games and Harry Potter are a few of my favorites.

/ June 9, 2012That’s a good plan. I remember the wait for HP – torture!!

/ June 8, 2012I love book series. You start off getting to know the characters, growing to love (or hate) them, and then, before you know it, the series is over. It’s kind of like high school, haha. I remember when I first finished the Hunger Games trilogy. I was sooo sad! It literally felt like a loved one had passed away. It was crazy, but I guess that’s just the sign of a good story(: Re-visiting the characters (or I should say, re-reading the story) is always fun, too.

/ June 9, 2012It’s definitely sad when you finish but they’re always there for you to pop back and say hi! books that is, they probably would throw you out of school

/ June 8, 2012I really got into the ‘Left Behind’ series years ago. I really didn’t want it to end!

/ June 8, 2012I’m more of a trilogy type of a person. A couple series have my full attention at the moment: Rebecca Zanetti, Charlaine Harris at the moment.
Bonnie. I loved the Left Behind series, too. That was crazy interesting!

/ June 9, 2012I agree, they don’t drag on too much then!

/ June 8, 2012I never got into Harry Potter, Twilight was OK to me, the first book I loved but then it got a bit well, samey to me… Just finished the first Hunger Games book, eagerly waiting to read more! I love reading a good series, whats better than knowing when you finish your favourite book that there’s more to come!

/ June 9, 2012I hope you enjoy the rest of HG! The film was great too!

/ June 8, 2012The latest book in The Mortal Instruments series is sitting on my nightstand and I’m hesitant to start it because I don’t want it to end. Though, I hear there are more books on the horizon!
Plus, I am anxiously awaiting the next Fallen book. I’m dying to know how it all ends.

/ June 9, 2012I think there’s 6 main one sand the prequels too. I’m looking forward to the final Fallen too, hope they get a happy after!

/ June 9, 2012I love series, and I’m usually more sad when I finish a series of books than just a single book.

/ June 9, 2012I agree, you have so much invested in it!

/ June 9, 2012I love a good book series! Yes, I hate to see them end. It is SO hard. But still, the end is the way the author ends it. I wouldn’t rewrite them. I think writing is very personal and agree with however they want to do it.
That is not to say I don’t dream about different endings.

/ June 9, 2012That’s a good point, we have to trust their judgement I guess
Always good to dream!

/ June 11, 2012I’m in the midst of writing my book series: the first three books are events that happen in 36 months (or so!); whilst the last book in the series will be a follow-up 10-odd years down the line. Wouldn’t you all like a follow-up to the series 10 years’ on and see how much has changed?

/ June 14, 2012Good luck with your series!

/ June 11, 2012I love series. Some characters are so interesting and fun that they need more than one book.
