I have always loved Beauty and the Beast. Ever since I first watched the Disney version, I was entranced by the gorgeous love story, soaring music, lovely animation and characters that you just couldn’t help but love. Belle has always been my favourite Disney princess. I seem to identify her the most in the films – her feelings of loneliness, discomfort with her surroundings, her wanting more from her life and her search for her prince charming which takes her down a unique path. The message is a great one – beauty is about what’s on the inside but as always for fairytales and Disney there’s a happy ending and she finds her soul mate.

My attraction to the story has continued with a modern remake of the story – originally a young adult book and now a film – Beastly takes on the timeless story and mixes it up for a new audience. Unusually, I enjoyed the film more than the book probably because instead of adding fur they made him look uniquely ugly and I have an inappropriate crush on Alex Pettyfer Whatever the reason, I got completely swept up in the story.

I think the story will always have a special place in my heart.
