I Heart Blogging

I was lucky enough last week to get shoutouts for my blog from 3 fellow bloggers – Sandi at; Laura at; and Sophia at Please check out their blogs, I love reading them everyday and I hope you do too!

It got me thinking about the whole blogging experience and how it is changing the way I spend my time. I’m really enjoying being part of this creative, supportive and inspiring world. I love the thrill of getting an idea for a post, I enjoy reading what people have to say in their comments on my posts or on their own blogs, it’s wonderful when you know you’re not alone in your thoughts, especially the ones you’ve always been embarrassed to admit to anybody 🙂

I am amazed at how blogging has changed the way I spend my days now. I was never a big Facebook user, sorry I find it quite dull so I was never someone who obsessively went online or checked their phone. Now I am!

I usually write my posts or set them to appear in the morning, around 9-10am UK time. There are some posts from the previous day and a couple from the morning for me to read. As the day moves on, there are more posts and people reading my posts as the world wakes up. A lot of bloggers seem to be American so by early afternoon their morning posts appear.

I find myself checking throughout the day when I have a break at work to see who has posted or commented and read and comment myself as soon as I can. Evening comes and things die down a little usually. When I wake up though, bloggers in other parts of the world who wait until the evenings to get online, have written posts or comments and the whole process starts again.

PHEW. (for another debate on obsessive blogging go here:

I’m really enjoying the way blogging is opening me up to new people and experiences. Writing is so often seen as a solitary pastime but we are all sharing it. And that is pretty amazing if you ask me!

When do you blog? When do you read other blogs? Do you have a set blogging day?

  1. Such a good post.
I’m new to this thing, but I’m hoping to use blogging as a way to meet new people…and to learn my “writing” voice. I used to be a heavily dedicated athlete, and I’ve experienced severe health issues over the last few years that have kind of robbed me of my identity.
So…I’m kind of exploring what else makes up “me”…and I remember my childhood love, love, love for writing and reading and these are things that I hope to explore more.
I find it wonderful that you want to be a writer. An aspiration that is perhaps similar to my own in some ways. I love that I can connect to people in other countries (I’m from Canada!!) and chat about neat things.
I’m not sure what time I should blog for a routine yet…morning, afternoon or night…I think maybe as I keep blogging I’ll figure out what works best for me. I’m really not a social media person though 🙂
    I dislike the phone…and I don’t touch facebook or twitter…
email and a blog are all i can technologically handle 🙂

    1. I think it’s great your re-exploring your love for writing, it sounds like your life is coming full circle! Yes you should see what works out best for you and go with it. I think blogging is the best out of the socila media so you have chosen well 🙂

  2. Thanks for the shout out. As you know, I blog first thing in the morning. Of course, now that my show is up and my schedule is emptier, I seem to be on WordPress A LOT. But, I was also sick all last week, so really unmotivated to get other projects going. We will see what happens to my blogging schedule once I get my act together. 🙂

  3. I’m with you on this, Vix. It’s been great fun to “meet” people from all other the world all because we share a love of words.

    Keep enjoying the journey!

  4. I’ve only been blogging on WP since January this year, and have re-discovered my love of writing again! I was encouraged by a friend to start a blog, so I did, but kind of half-heartedly at the beginning. Much to my delight, I am finding “me” again! The more I write and get more involved reading other bloggers posts, the more I love it – it really took me by surprise!
I live in Australia so there is a big time difference between me and other countries, but I’m finding that I post my blogs when it’s late afternoon here, as that’s when most of you are getting out of bed! When I get up the morning after, my buddies comments are waiting in my inbox!
Blogging has opened up a whole new world for me, and I love the way we can inter-act with our blogging buddies here and really get to know them.
    I love blogging!

    1. So glad you like it as much as me! I only started in Dec so we’re both newbies. It’s amazing to think you can connect with the other side of the world and chat to people you would never meet in your day-to-day life. Keep it up!

  5. I’m pretty new to blogging as well…just started this January as a way to sort of dust off my writing skills. I have no set pattern or schedule…I just blog when I have time and when a post topic has struck me. The only exception to this is that I make sure to write a Thankful Thursday post.

    1. Seems like a few of us started the new year with a blog! I love your themed day, it’s a great idea and by waiting for inspiration, you can be sure it will be something worth reading.

  6. THANK YOU! I love blogging…and I think Lisa and I have mentioned finding a happy balance. Right now, I’ve been a tad too obsessive and my husband is starting to get annoyed.

My responses are all over the place and whenver I can get on the computer. I need to find that happy balance so that I’m getting other stuff done, and paying enough attention to the family. 🙂

It’s a lot of work to build a community (and to find the right one- one where you have similar interests)and you’re not the “other-side-of-the-argument” all the time.

For awhile, I used to follow blogs that were all local to me, and meet up with them at blogger events. Want to talk dull? Everyone was writing the same thing, everyone was too interested in marketing their financial interests, no one was interested in the other people, just me, me, me! Follow me, so I can advertise. It was so boring. I too was looking for financial way to support our family, but I didn’t agree with the way ‘everyone’ was doing it.

My current blog is new (as of January) and I finally “deleted” (yikes) my other two blogs, but they were great learning tools. This one is strictly for fun. SO TIP TO THOSE NEWBIES…you might go through a couple of blogs before finding ‘home’ and just know, that’s typical.

By the way, FIRST thing in the morning…I turn on the computer to look what Vix wrote and Lisa! 🙂

    1. You’re welcome 🙂 That’s so interesting, I’ve not heard of blogger events! Maybe one day we’ll have our own one and it will be fab! I’m loving the new blog and it’s a good idea to do a fun one. Ah bless you, I also look to see what you have written, feel the love!

  7. I too love blogging! It makes me so happy to just be able to write out all my thoughts! And I love reading other peoples blogs too! 🙂 I usually blog in the evening or late afternoon. Sometimes on weekends I blog in the morning though but I am always checking my subscriptions and comments throughout the whole day! 🙂

  8. Yayy to blogging! So glad you’re enjoying yourself Vix! I enjoy blogging too. I can;t commit to daily blogging though, my inspiration fluctuates and I get writer’s block quite a lot! I salute those who can blog interesting stuff everyday, you included 🙂 To me, the best part about blogging is getting to meet new friends and communicating with them. Reading their blogs make me feel like I know them well. I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I get comments or when people reply to my comments. It’s awesome!

    1. Hehe yay to you as well!! Ah bless you, it is lovely to share thoughts with everyone and know people are listening and responding to you for sure. We bloggers are awesome 🙂

  9. I just starting blogging in January and dedicated myself to the postaday2011 challenge. I am loving every minute of it. I can’t wait to write and read others’ blog posts! I generally post at night.

  10. I started my blog last June and can honestly say it was probably one of the BEST decisions I have ever made. Blogging has tuaght me soooooooo much about myself as well as having introduced me to some of the most amazing people from all walks of life , all over the world. That’s some pretty awesome stuff is you ask me! I’ve so enjoyed getting to know everyone and their lives, opinions, loves and losses… Listening to and Learning from the stories of others as well as offering words of advice, comfort or cheer is so rewarding. Looking forward to MANY, many more posts from you all and continuing to write many more myself.

Blogging has allowed me to share parts of myself with the world, that I never thought I’d share. Very Cool!

keep the posts coming Vix… I’ll keep reading 🙂

    1. P.S. I forgot… I pretty much always post at night if on a weekday. Weekends whenever the mood strikes. I signed up to do the post-a-week challenge but have just posted 8 days in a row (maybe it was 7…can’t remember now!)! Pretty proud of that!

  11. Great post! I’ve really loved the blog community that I’ve found here. I blog whenever something happens that I think I want to share. The afternoons when the Little Girl naps are the best times for me to catch up on blog reading. 🙂

  12. Thanks for the shout-out girl! I love reading your blog!! I usually blog in the evening after I work out. My day starts so early (6:30am) and I don’t get home until 5:45, so I have to jam-pack my evening with exercise, dinner, blogging and lots of other fun things. 🙂 I totally agree that the blog world is amazing. Everyone is so supportive and I love getting ideas from people!

  13. I love blogging and love that I discovered yours! Not only do I have something fun to read every day but I also have a friend across the pond now!

I work about 45 to 50 hours a week and have no time to read blogs at work (nor do I want to since they can track where I go on the net) so all of my reading is done at night. I will read on my Google Reader every other night during a usual wk and post a few days a week then on the weekend as well. I don’t know how people post multiple times throughout a day and kinda get turned off by that. I would rather read quality over quantity.

  14. I do enjoy blogging, but as I’m now starting/launching my business, my time for it has diminished. So, on a Friday I do a guest post series (how would you spend £1000 – i got the idea as STV seem to give away that amount at least once a week!); and I pre-schedule two posts a week (mondays, weds/thurs) whenever I feel the urge to post what I like/bought, and what’s in my head.

I check the blogs at least once a day; apart from the weekends.

  15. Bad person here.. the first thing I do when I get to work is check out WP.. catch up on the previous evenings blogs and then settle down to work.. then I suppose I work on a blog through the day as a change from staring at spreadsheets all day. As a rule I try not to check WP over the weekend ( mainly because I don’t have the time! ). I do have a FB account but rarely post from there

  16. I love the way we can express ourselves and at the same time connect with other likeminded people through blogging!
I write when I have the time in the evenings, and sometimes on the bus on my way to/from work, and I check blogs anywhere from every to every third day – but I would love to read/write blogs more! Getting there… 🙂
