Loser like me

I watched the Glee sectionals episode on Monday and it reminded me of why I heart Glee – yes it’s cheesy and silly but it’s also fun and heart warming. It makes you feel better about yourself and love. There’s so many positive messages mixed into the show and it never fails to cheer me up. Watching the cast sing the first original songs on the show I was very impressed, I loved them both but I have to say I emphasised most with this one ….

Yeah, you may think that I’m a zero
But, hey, everyone you wanna be
Probably started off like me
You may say that I’m a freakshow (I don’t care)
But, hey, give me just a little time
I bet you’re gonna change your mind

All of the dirt you’ve been throwin’ my way
It ain’t so hard to take, that’s right
‘Cause I know one day you’ll be screamin’ my name
And I’ll just look away, that’s right

(Chorus)
Just go ahead and hate on me and run your mouth
So everyone can hear
Hit me with the words you got and knock me down
Baby, I don’t care
Keep it up, I’m tunin’ up to fade you out
You wanna be
You wanna be
A loser like me
A loser like me

Push me up against the locker
And hey, all I do is shake it off
I’ll get you back when I’m your boss
I’m not thinkin’ ’bout you haters
‘Cause hey, I could be a superstar
I’ll see you when you wash my car

All of the dirt you’ve been throwin’ my way
It ain’t so hard to take, that’s right
‘Cause I know one day you’ll be screamin’ my name
And I’ll just look away, that’s right

(Chorus)
Just go ahead and hate on me and run your mouth
So everyone can hear
Hit me with the words you got and knock me down
Baby, I don’t care
Keep it up, I’m tunin’ up to fade you out
You wanna be
You wanna be
A loser like me
A loser like me
A loser like me

I think a lot of us feel different, feel like we don’t fit into a certain box and feel like people are laughing at us or putting us down but this song reminded me that you just need to rise above it, believe in your dreams and love yourself. There’s no such thing as being different – we’re all unique and you don’t have to follow the crowd, you should be proud of your uniqueness! We are pretty special guys 🙂

I’ll admit sometimes when things get tough or think back to people who’ve treated me badly or hurt me, it does make me work harder to follow my dreams. The part in the song that makes me smile is ‘Cause I know one day you’ll be screamin’ my name
And I’ll just look away, that’s right – who hasn’t fantasised about making it big, looking good, feeling great and seeing that person who hurt you and just walking by, knowing you’ve made all your dreams come true desire them. Or maybe because of them.

So here’s some positive thinking today – follow those dreams, you can do it no matter what anyone says! See you on the bestseller list lol 🙂

Anyone wanna be a loser like me?

  1. Oh Hon, you make me feel better about life and love. You’re just an awesome little gem of a gal. I’m giving ya a big hug right now.
As for me, I don’t want to be in a box, all crammed in and squished. No bueno. Let’s stay out of the box and enjoy the view. 😀

  2. me me me!! 😀

I don’t care if I’m different, I’m proud of it actually! And i hope that people realise that we’re all different and not to slate us off because of it. And, I hope that mixing fashion posts with more personal posts on me will make people realise that not all of us are “normal” (even though I do get more comments on my fashion posts than my personal posts). People can be so naive sometimes.

Can I join you on the bestsellers list? Perhaps I could interview you when I’m on le hour! 🙂 😛

    xx

  3. It’s great that TV now has shows where it’s OK if your not perfect, I think that’s why the reality shows were so big when they first came out. Perfect people are too predictable. I’m proud to say I’m not perfect, and I wouldn’t have it anyother way. Great post!

  4. I have to agree with Pl Holden here, I think it’s great that television is promoting shows with such a great message. I’m on the way to being confident about being different, it has its ups and downs of course…but posts like yours help keep me on track. Cheers!

  5. YAY! They finally aired “Original Songs” over in the UK 🙂 “Loser Like Me” was also my favorite of the New Directions songs… as I too found the lyrics completely relatable. And while the song was crazy cheesy (but it was supposed to be written by high schoolers, so that was allowable), I agree with you about the lyrics being uplifting. The overall message of being accepting/uplifting of oneself is something that will always be important, especially in our popular culture.

And, I am very much looking forward to seeing YOU on the bestseller list 🙂
