Yesterday I made a trip out to the shops at lunch time and ended up in Paperchase. It’s such a cool shop to browse in but everything spoke to me and I ended up spending Β£30 oops! I brought some cool cards to add to my growing collection – I need to work out how to display them all in my room somehow, I’m thinking on the back of my door as I have quite a few pictures filling up the walls.

Along with the cards, I also got a small notebook because I wanted somewhere I could jot down thoughts / ideas / quotes / song lyrics. I often see / hear something inspiring but have nowhere to make a note of it. Now I do! Often you lovely bloggers will include quotes on your posts and I think wow I need to remember that one. Now I can!

So to help me start my scrapbook of amazing messages, can you please write down your favourite quotes / sayings in the comments below.

  1. Okay, this isn’t my favorite quote or anything, but I just stumbled upon it and thought it suited this moment in our lives: “The process of creating is related to the process of dreaming although when you are writing you’re doing it and when you’re dreaming, it’s doing you”. Robert Stone

  2. I LOVE THAT BOOK. And those cards are gorgeous! Paperchase is lush but I also like Blott too!

Oh and my fave quote? Who knows where life will take you, the road is long and in the end the journey is the destination.

  3. I did a series of 26 posts, Aphorisms from Aa to Zz, with lots of my favorite quotes. Since your post starts with “Ss” I’ll give you a link to it:

Like a water-wheel, filling and emptying its buckets over and over as it turns, we empty out who we were, to become more fully who we are meant to be. When we remain attached to Ego concerns, our buckets do not empty completely, leaving less room for Spirit.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust

I am a great reader of quotes. Many times..I will hear or read a quote and a story will tumble out of my brain.
That one by Gene Wilder seems good for the weekend.
I do love this one, and included it…changed slightly…in one of my works.
In T2 Terminator 2…Sarah Connor asks her son John…after he says…”Mother, the police are outside.” She asks…”How many?” He answers, causing Arnold(the governor and all around swell family man)to wince…”All of them!”

  8. Okay… so… I can’t just pick ONE favorite quote…. soooo I’m sorry that this comment is about to get ridiculously long, haha! Here’s my top favorites! πŸ™‚

Joy isn’t the absence of sorrow – it’s the presence of God!

Be a best friend, tell the truth, and overuse “I love you”. Go to work, do your best, don’t outsmart your common sense. Never let your prayin’ knees get lazy and love like crazy…
    – Lee Brice

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty. To find the best in others; to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success.
    – Ralph Waldo Emerson

What we do in life echoes in eternity. Strength and honor.
    – Gladiator

Here I stand; I can do no other. God help me.
    – Martin Luther

I just like to smile. Smiling is my favorite!
    – Buddy the Elf

Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
    – Lilo and Stitch

What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like.
    – Saint Augustine

  9. I love that chocolate card!

    My favorite quotes are:
    1) Be the change you wish to see in the world. – M. Gandhi
    2) You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. – M. Gandhi
    3) We must welcome the future, remembering that soon it will be the past; and we must respect the past; remembering that once it was all that was humanly possible. – G. Santayana

“There are things that we don’t want to happen but we have to accept, things we don’t want to know but have to Learn, and people we can’t live without, but have to let go.”

“Do not be embarrassed by your mistakes. Nothing can teach us better than our understanding of them. This is one of the best ways of self-education.” – Thomas Carlyle

“You meet people who forget you, you forget people you met, but sometimes you meet those people you can’t forget. Those are your friends.”

β€œI believe that everything happens for a reason. β€œIt hurts to love someone and not be loved in return, but what is the most painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let the person know how you feel.” – unknown

  11. My two favourite quotes are:

“If I were to begin life again, I should want it as it was. I would only open my eyes a little bit more.” Jules Renard

“Life is too short to spend your precious time trying to convince a person who wants to live in gloom and doom otherwise. Give lifting that person your best shot, but don’t hang around long enough for his or her bad attitude to pull you down. Instead, surround yourself with optimistic people.” Zig Ziglar

Is that a Banksy picture I spot?

  12. ‘What man is a man who doesn’t make the world better?’

“Peace, they say, is the enemy of memory”

Question for you… ever think of doing a video blog (vlog?) and perhaps a tour of your room?

  13. I looove Paperchase! And my older one she loves it too, wherever we are and she sees this shop she insists on going in!

Long time ago I’d write down in a small notebook nice quotes from books I read, songs, magazines… wherever I saw something inspirational. I wish I had this notebook now, it’s lost somewhere 😦
