Favourite fairytale

I have always loved Beauty and the Beast. Ever since I first watched the Disney version, I was entranced by the gorgeous love story, soaring music, lovely animation and characters that you just couldn’t help but love. Belle has always been my favourite Disney princess. I seem to identify her the most in the films – her feelings of loneliness, discomfort with her surroundings, her wanting more from her life and her search for her prince charming which takes her down a unique path. The message is a great one – beauty is about what’s on the inside but as always for fairytales and Disney there’s a happy ending and she finds her soul mate.

My attraction to the story has continued with a modern remake of the story – originally a young adult book and now a film – Beastly takes on the timeless story and mixes it up for a new audience. Unusually, I enjoyed the film more than the book probably because instead of adding fur they made him look uniquely ugly and I have an inappropriate crush on Alex Pettyfer ๐Ÿ™‚ Whatever the reason, I got completely swept up in the story.

I think the story will always have a special place in my heart.

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends

Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast

  1. I LOOOOOOVE Beauty & The Beast!!!! Belle is awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚ Mrs. Potts & Chip, Lumiere, Coggsworth, etc, The characters are indeed lovebale.

  2. I love Beauty and the Beast. It was a favorite of my youngest son when he was about three or four and his older brother used to tease him for liking it…now, he vehemently denies he ever watched it more than once!

  3. If we’re talking Disney movies, my favorite will always be the animated version of Alice in Wonderland. (Does that even count as a fairy tale, though?) And I actually like this one the most because there wasn’t any love story or princes or anything – Alice was just trying to find herself and find her way back. However, my second and third favorites are The Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty. They have those damsel in distress plots that make me cringe, but each of those Disney Princesses have their moments of independence and strength ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I love Beauty and the Beast. I have the album and listened to it many, many times. So beautiful!
One of my favorite fairy tales was Cinderella. I think my mom made me clean all the time. LOL.

  5. Belle was always my favorite Disney princess!

Favorite fairy tale… I’d have to go with Hansel and Gretel. A candy house sounds delicious!

  6. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite. I watched it all the time and would sing songs from it and wear a beach towel draped over my head like Aurora’s shawl. And I wanted three old fairies to look after me.

I also think I went through a phase of watching Aladdin everyday, and Jasmine does have some spunk. Belle and Ariel are awesome too and do have the best music.

  7. My daughter looooved Beauty and the Beast when she was a little girl. I love all the Disney movies… but my favorite Disney character is Tigger… T. I. double geh errrrr.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Aladdin is a great one. Robin Hood.. 101 Dalmatians.

  8. I wanted to see that movie, too, because I love all fairy tale adaptations. I thought it was going to be awful, but it actually wasn’t.

Sleeping Beauty has always been my favorite of the older ones. But I also really like The Little Mermaid.
