Stars

“For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.”
― Vincent van Gogh

Two of my favourite paintings are Van Gogh’s impressions of starry nights. Lately, I feel like I’m surrounded by quotes about stars and they reminded me of his paintings. His pictures are inspring. I think it’s the stars in them that capture my interest becasue stars themselves inspire so many.

Stars feature heavily in creative works and they always seem wrapped up with words like dreams and destiny. I think as humans looking up at the stars, we feel empowered yet humble, small in comparison and wishing we could explore them.

“I like the night. Without the dark, we’d never see the stars.”
― Stephenie Meyer, Twilight

“There wouldn’t be a sky full of stars
if we were all meant to wish on the same one.”
– Frances Clark

The stars are with us every night and when we take a minute to look up and admire them, we can’t help but start to imagine and dream because an endless sky helps you feel like anything and everything is possible.

“Shoot for the moon.
Even if you miss it you will land among the stars.”
–  Les Brown

“We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle.”
― Marilyn Monroe

And finally, I think stars are useful in guiding you home, towards the light and towards your dreams. They remind you that you are special and you should shine just as they do.

When it’s dark, look for stars.

  1. LOVE this. When it’s dark look for the stars. Great post. Spot on! 🙂 When it’s dark it’s so easy to get scared and worried, but if you look up, you can see sparkling light.

I love when you wrote, “… we feel empowered yet humble, …” So true! Here in Phoenix, AZ there are so may lights it’s hard to see the stars sometimes, but when I go up north a bit away from town, it’s amazing how clearly the stars shine. 🙂

  2. I love the stars. It’s a shame that they’re so hard to see because of all the lights on at night… sometimes I wish I could go out to the middle of nowhere to see the stars in their full glory.

  3. We were watching frozen planet last night and the shots of the stars there made me almost ( but not quite ) want to go and visit… the minus 50° temperature put me off though.
I love the stars and have spent many a night lying on my back just staring up at them…

  4. The stars is just one reason I love visiting family in PA. There’s no bright lights to hide them. I could stare at them for days!
