Lucky 7 meme

The lovely Maggie tagged me in the Lucky 7 meme.

Here are the rules:

Open your novel-in-progress and do the following:

1. Go to page 77.

2. Go to line 7.

3. Copy down the next 7 lines, sentences, or paragraphs as they are written.

4. Tag 7 new authors.

My current WIP isn’t up to 77 pages  yet so here’s the extract from my contemporary YA Pigeon Steps (it’s set in Portgual to help put the extract in some context for you!):

“It’s a beautiful beach,” she agrees. She looks at Dad. “We should go for a walk.”

He shrugs. “Seen one beach, seen ‘em all.”

“You can’t stay in the villa all the time,” I tell him.

He ignores me.

“Shall we go to that town that woman in the market told us about?” Mum says.

“Yeah we can go tomorrow,” I reply, desperate to make up for Dad’s lack of interest.

I need to make good on my promise to spend more time with her.

I’d like to tag these guys as I want to see what they’re writing 🙂

Kathryn aka 4am writer

Rebecca aka Novel Girl

  1. I like your seven lines. Already I get the sense of the tension in the family and the protag’s need to keep things under control or calm.

Thanks for tagging me! I will play along…:)
