2014 was a year of ups and downs.
I started the year feeling despondent about my writing with fading hope that I would ever have something published. My dream felt incredibly far away from coming true and I became embarrassed when people asked me how my writing was going. I was beginning to wonder if I’d made a huge mistake in deciding to chase my dream.
But 2014 had surprises in store for me. I decided to enter a short story competition run by Simon and Schuster and was amazed and delighted to find out that I had won! I’m so excited for my eBook short to be released in early 2015 and for you all to read it.
However, the ups and downs hadn’t ended for me. I parted ways with my agent and wondered whether I’d have to shelve the novel I had been working on. Thankfully, I found a new agent quickly who believed in me and my story and there will be news to share with you all in the New Year about the book that I can’t wait to tell you about!
So being a writer isn’t easy and we tend to be an anxious bunch at the best of times but I discovered this year that when someone connects with something you’ve written, it makes all the angst worth it.
I’m so glad I didn’t give up on my dream this year.
I’m in such a different place to where I was at the beginning of the year proving that you really should …
I’ve learnt a lot this year about perseverance and patience and not giving up when things get tough, believing in yourself and your dreams, and I’m looking forward to seeing what I learn in 2015. I hope that if you are experiencing a tough journey either in writing or something completely different that 2015 brings you everything that you wish for.
This has always been one of my favourite quotes and this feels like the perfect moment to share it on here again.
I hope it inspires you as it has inspired me this year …
Have a very happy New Year my lovely followers and I’ll see you all in 2015!
