The RoNA awards 2017

Last night, I made my way to London Town for the Romantic Novelists’ Association Awards as my novel The Second Love Of My Life was on the shortlist for the Contemporary Romance award.

Here are all the books in my category:

The professional photos with the other nominees:

Obligatory pre-event selfie:

The event was held in a lovely building in Whitehall full of original features and it all had a Beauty and the Beast feel to it.

If only I had a library like this. Swoon.

Sadly, my book  didn’t win (I was robbed, obvs ūüėÉ) but it was lovely to have been nominated and it’s always lots of fun meeting other authors and publishing peeps. Plus there was pink fizz to be had!

So happy it was finally warm enough to wear my new jacket!

Here I am with lovely author Ali McNamara:

With my agent Hannah Ferguson:

And, here are the three of us!

It’s always fun having a glamorous writer night out. But tonight it’s all back to normal and I’m slouching on the sofa in sweats watching Netflix with a tub of Ben and Jerry’s.

You’ve got to keep it real folks.

Shake that booty and all by myself

Wow I feel really grateful to have been given two new blogging awards – you guys are too good to me ūüôā

First up is ….

Passed over by Sophia at http://www.ravenwavesblog.com/. Thanks you so much Sophia – I love this girl and¬†her blog and one day I’m jumping¬†on a plane to Chicago¬†to visit her. Get her blog on your lost, you won’t regret it ūüôā

Here are the rules of acceptance ….

1. Post this award with the picture and name whoever tagged you in it

2. Do the STUFF

3. Award to 7 others and tell them you did so!

1. Done above.

2. Here we go …

  • Name 3 things that are lying right next to you…. Well, I am at work (naughty) so I have a mango, pineapple and passion fruit smoothie from M & S cracked open; my iPhone is sitting pretty in front of me and I sit by the window so the lovely¬†sunshine is pouring¬†in – downside is the bushes outside are kick starting my hayfever!
  • Name 2 foods you cannot live without… chocolate – I try and¬†try not to eat it but when I’m feeling down, it’s a good pick me up and tastes sooo¬†good. My favourites are Galaxy, Cadbury Twirl and Caramel and I’m partial¬†to Easter eggs ūüôā I also don’t think I could¬†live without roast dinners. Sunday’s in the winter cry out for my mum’s roast – meat, potatoes, yorkshire pudding, veg and lots of lovely gravy. Amazing comfort food.
  • Name 1 thing you did today…. As it’s the start of my day, I’ll use one from yesterday. I sat outside at lunch time and soaked¬†up the sunshine. There’s a heatwave¬†here in the UK and it’s gorgeous. I¬†hope it lasts over Easter when I’m off work. Tan here¬†I¬†come ūüôā

I also picked up this award from Jules over at http://retrojules.blogspot.com/. Jules is a fab blogger and I completely emphasise with her¬†search¬†for a man resembling Mr Big from Sex and the City. Although¬†her love of Kylie I’m not so sure about ūüôā

¬†This one calls for 10 facts about me. I recently did a Q and A post¬†that I think more¬†than covers this! You’re¬†also¬†supposed to pass on to 10 other bloggers.

I’m going to break the rules¬†now, I love¬†so many blogs and am so grateful¬†for everyone that reads mine that anyone¬†who looks at this page gets these awards! You’re all fab ….

All by myself …..

Okay onto¬†another note – as a single lady there are some things¬†I just don’t do – eating¬†in a restaurant¬†alone for one but also going on holiday alone. I’ve¬†never done it but holidays are tricky – my friends¬†all have partners¬†to go with so I usually¬†go with my mum. Without a partner¬†it’s just not as easy. But I’ve been thinking¬†maybe I should¬†brave it one day and get¬†to see places I want to see even if it means going alone.

So question of the day Рhave you ever been or would you go on holiday by yourself?

And the award goes to …

Yay¬†my first ever blogging award, I feel so proud ūüôā Huge thanks to Megan over at Maggie Mae’s Days for giving me this award!

Okay here are the rules of acceptance:

<<The Versatile Blogger Rules>>
1. Thank the person who awarded you and link back to them in your post.
2. Tell 7 Random facts about yourself.
3. Pass the award on to 15 new found bloggers.
4. Contact each blogger you want to pass the award on to and let them know you’ve done so, and let the giver of your award know you accept it… or not.

Here are my 7 random facts:

1. I have a phobia of fireworks. They terrify me and have since I was little and went to my first firework show. If I had a past life,¬†I think an explosion must have¬†killed me. I don’t even like party poppers, balloons or champagne popping because they make me jump so much!

2. I don’t think I could live without¬†my GHD¬†hair straighteners. I have really thick hair¬†that¬†has a¬†tendency to frizz and¬†these were a fab invention for it! Yay for GHDs ūüôā

3. I am very clumsy and accident prone, likely to hit door frames when I walk through them or bash my knee against tables. This morning, I jabbed my thumb with a fork. Yes really.

4. I made my first visit to Disneyland in 2008 aged 25 and I loved it! I totally pushed kids out of the way to get my photo with all the characters and almost screamed when I saw Micky and Minnie. I love Disney and my film is Beauty and the Beast.

Me and Minnie

5. I enjoy visiting stately homes and castles / palaces. This probably stems from loving Jane Austen and watching Pride and Prejudice – the BBC series –¬†made me¬†want to visit homes like that. I’ve steadily visited them over the years, trying to go to one every summer.

6. When I was younger I was obsessed with Dawson’s Creek and I own the DVDs now. I loved the angst and Joshua Jackson was one of my first celeb crushes. I now love him in Fringe so he’s been my longest relationship¬†ūüôā

7. One of my fave¬†holidays has been in¬†NYC. I went first aged 14 and the second time in 2008. I feel like I know the city so well from movies and TV shows and enjoy¬†all the shops, amazing buildings, the park and big food portions. I’d like to visit at Xmas time next and see all the lights.

Eating a yummy cupcake in Greenwich Village

Phew done! And now the next step is to pass the award on to my fave bloggers.

Megan and I have similar tastes and she¬†has already passed the award on to some of my fave blogs¬†(Tinkerbelle86‚Ä≤s Blog; This Italian Family; Simple Moments-Living Life to the Fullest¬†; Melissa‚Äôs Meanderings¬†) so here’s some other of my fave places to visit, I hope they will proudly accept this award …

1. http://tienunscripted.wordpress.com/

2. http://ahhsome.wordpress.com/

3. http://lbdiamond.wordpress.com/

4. http://elvishjesusfreak.wordpress.com/

5. http://ravenwavesblog.wordpress.com/

6. http://andserenitytoo.wordpress.com/

7. http://lkramer14.wordpress.com/

8. http://simplyshaka.wordpress.com/

Please forgive me if you’re not on the list,¬†I just wanted to put on the ones that¬†I visit everyday and who visit mine to thank them for all their support and excellent posts. I appreciate EVERYONE who reads mine and stops by and there are far too many great blogs out there to include here ūüôā

So there we go, my first acceptance speech. I am so grateful for all your support guys!
